How To Make AI Sound Like Someone

w/ Examples

Ever wondered how to make AI sound just like your favorite celebrity or thought leader?

It's not just possible - it's essential!

Whether you're a content creator, marketer, or AI enthusiast, mastering this skill can be the difference between bland, robotic content and engaging, viral material that feels human.

And here's good news: it's not even that hard. So grab your coffee, or beer, and let's dive in.

How To
Make AI Sound Like Someone

To make AI sound like someone, we need to capture the essence of their communication style. This essence can be described through something I like to call “style guide”.

1/ Introducing a Writing Style Guide

Have you ever noticed how some AI-generated content just feels "off"? That's what happens without a solid style guide.

Language is like a fingerprint - unique to each individual. By analyzing and learning someone's patterns, you're essentially giving the AI a blueprint to follow.

Think of it like learning a new language. At first, you might sound stilted and unnatural. But with a deep understanding of idioms, slang, and cultural nuances, you start to sound like a native speaker. That's what a great style guide does for AI.

2/ How To Build a Style Guide

Don’t: Dump every piece of content ever produced by the target person into AI.

Do: Use a diverse sample of their best work, spanning different formats and time periods.

Why no bad examples? Quantity doesn't equal quality. Feeding an AI system too much data, especially if it includes lower-quality or inconsistent material, can dilute the essence of the person's voice.

3/ Let’s Build a Style Guide Together

Let’s crack the writing code of LinkedIn's favorite thought leader - Sahil Bloom.

This is our mission:

  1. Scroll through Sahil's LinkedIn feed

  2. Spot the gems - those posts that scream "prime Sahil"

  3. Copy and paste these into AI (I’m using Claude)

  4. Aim for 10+ high-quality posts. Quality over quantity!

Pro tip: Look for posts with high engagement. If LinkedIn loves it, your AI should learn from it.

But first, let’s explain to AI what we’re trying to do. Start with the prompt below. Works best with GPT-4o or Claude-3.5.

I want you to recreate a writing style based upon the content I'm about to give you. That writing style should be broken into key principles and detailed guidelines that an AI assistant can use to replicate that style.

I'm gonna start giving you examples of the content. All I want you to do is:

Each time after I give you piece of content, say: "Ok, continue!"

I want you to keep doing this until I say "Finish!"

When I say finish, I want you to write the guide based on all teh pieces of content you received.

Now, it's time to get to work. Scroll through the LinkedIn feed, find those juicy posts, and keep pasting them into AI.

When you’re done, type finish! You’ll get a detailed style guide in response. This is the one I got.

4/ Using a Style Guide

Ready to create new content? The style guide makes it easy to create new posts on your favorite topics.

Simply describe the type of posts you want, and insert the style guide between the <style_guide> tags.

Write a 300-word LinkedIn post about making money online based on the provided <style_guide>.

<style_guide>Paste your style guide here</style_guide>

And that’s the power of a style guide.

For the past months, I’ve been collecting style guides of my favorite content creators and I build a huge Notion collection that’s always ready when I need it.
